no-kill cat shelters?

Date: 2007-04-24 01:52 am (UTC)I wouldn't be surprised if that is sometimes the case, but it's certainly not true with the no-kill shelter in my building. As a rule, they charge money to accept cats, but I believe they've been known to bring in a stray that has no one to take care of it, too. They have many who have such severe behavior problems that they live with one of the shelter volunteers until they can come to the building. They take FIV+ cats and foster them separately, and other poor sick kitties. There's a beautiful elder-gentleman cat there now, who's been there since December or January.
Mostly they have the "luxury" on the backs of the volunteers.
