fun use of green screen video tech for a music video:
native new beaters' "live good"

if you haven't played with the rasterbator you might want to take a look -- feed it a picture and it spits out a rasterized image in pdf format all set to print out on bunches of paper. [EDIT: feed it a picture and it spits out a halftone image which it inaccurately describes as a raster image. otoh, this way they get to call it a "rasterbator", which amuses me.]

which reminds me -- i don't think i ever linked to this web app for turning images into patterns for cross-stitch, knitting, crochet, sticking post-its to windows, or other big-pixel-display media of your choice: knitPro

I'm confused by why they refer to it as rasterisation, as it's not - they're making halftones. Which is cool. But it's not rasterising.

see, i thought maybe that was halftoning, but wasn't sure enough to contradict them on it.

otoh, it is full of awesome. i kinda want to see and actual pic of the photoshopped pic of giant polly menacing the UW posted big at UW.

Yeah, it was v. confusing. I was all, "but rasterisation is taking a vector and making a bitmap - are you making a vector image from bitmaps? But that's really difficult and you're going to suck at it. What are you doing that isn't just enlargement?" And then I followed enough links that I could find out what they were actually doing.

And that would be awesome. Or maybe we could just make the giant Polly, set it up in Red Square, and take a new picture.

Those are some dangerously addictive links. Please tell me I don't need an embroidery pattern for a Minoan lady.

Indeed, you lie like a rug.

Possibly a Minoan one.
