work has been kicking my ass up and down the block keeping me busy, so i haven't had a chance to do any postings of actual content. (as an example, i'll be at my data center in watertown at 0500 tomorrow.) hopefully in a few weeks, i should be able to actually have breathing room and return to my usual slacker ways.

in the mean time, a couple of random bits.

yay iowa! go go heartland!
go vermont! go go fuckin commie hippies to the north!

finally got around to watching "gone baby gone". good stuff. casey affleck? surprising. i think i may have to seek out some of dennis lahane's novels.

it's been a few months and i'm still liking the iphone.

it's been even more months and i'm still pleased to be shacking up with [livejournal.com profile] clauclauclaudia.

Lehane is really good. The movie is not quite up to the books; in the books, for example, Angie has a somewhat more rewarding role and is more of a protagonist. But Morgan Freeman playing the Irish cop, that was a brilliant bit of casting.

If you saw Clint Eastwood's Mystic River, that's based on Lehane's book of the same name, which I think is his best. It does not have Patrick and Angie, however.

Casey Affleck is getting pretty good. Who knew?

yeah, i saw mystic river a few years ago and thought it was good stuff.

i am incredibly amused that the woman who played the mother's friend ("i knew you in high school. you're still a bit conceited.") was invited to read for the part after being overheard ranting at the film crew because they were in her way.

I have a few of Dennis Lehane's novels in the house--if you come by, you may have them. Gone, Baby, Gone freaked me out but almost all his books have. I have not yet seen any of the movies.

Yay for shacking up with the one you love!
