standing in my bathroom with a hammer in one hand and a titanium crowbar in the other, it only took a couple of half-hearted swings with the tools before it occured to me that, yes, in fact, maybe i'd better go get a pair of safety glasses.

the fact that i now have a bleeding cut on my forehead sort of implies that safety glasses were a good idea.

also, so far, the subfloor around the tub looks to be in good shape, so yay on that.

(i'm ripping up some of the tile in my bathroom in preparation for the flooring guy's visit on weds morning. my fear was that the subfloor is rotting out, but so far it looks okay.)

You're supposed to point the crowbar in the other direction?

yeah. it's about like this one (http://www.streettech.com/archives_gadget/crowBar.html) but i forget where i bought it. i know i bought it when i was out in seattle, but i can't remember from whom.

there's some really sexy crowbar-related stuff out there, now. stanley tools has the AWESOMELY NAMED "functional utility bar", or FUBAR (http://www.stanleyfubar.com/). and the even more awesome looking fubar forcible entry tool (http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?CATEGORY=Forcible+Entry+Tools&TYPE=PRODUCT&PARTNUMBER=55-122&SDesc=Stanley%AE+Fubar%AE+Forcible+Entry+Tool)

i've still got my plain old full-sized steel crowbar, though, besides the titanium one. it does the job when i need more mass for more momentum. the fullsized crowbar has a name. it's name is "Gentle Feminine Persuasion", because that's what some jobs need.

Glad to hear that your subfloor is sound. That ventures into major and costly renovation territory.

Clint wants to take a look at the subfloor in our upstairs bathroom, it makes some ominous creaks when you stand in the shower. But that means re-doing the upstairs vinyl at the least (and with all the work we just did downstairs, I don't want to start upstairs) and if there is a subfloor issue I don't want to know yet. At least until we've had a few months off from major renovation work.
