This is the best traceroute I've ever seen. If you have access to a command line, check out
traceroute -m 200 216.81.59.173
(from windows, tracert -h 200 216.81.59.173)

(traceroute -n takes all the fun out of it, though.)

If you don't have access to a command line, the result is behind the LJ-cut.
$ traceroute -m 200 216.81.59.173
traceroute to 216.81.59.173 (216.81.59.173), 200 hops max, 40 byte packets

ETA: hat tip to solarbird.
Edited again to include the "trace further, dammit" arguments and included the additional hops in the sample.
Props to Ryan at BeagleNetworks for mad skillz.
Update: I think it's no longer being routed. Presumably having half the world tracerouting into their network was causing problems.

Shit, They'll let *anything* into a PTR record these days.
There goes the neighborhood.

I've been meaning to drop you a note - you showed up in a dream of mine the other night. We ended up talking about fatigue patterns and wear spots on tissu silks.

I'm still wondering why my new upstream provider automatically creates a PTR record but not a matching A record for new installs. Yeah, they've been nice about setting things up any (reasonable) way I want (I guess that's one of the advantages of "commercial" service), but what's the *point* of their approach?
