This is completely insane. If I didn't have reasonably high expectations of something vaguely approaching accuracy from Salon, I'd assume it's something on the level of the people who are talking about the Boston Marathon bombings as a false flag operation.

Apparently the guy who owns Ringling Bros Circus paid ex-spies to fuck up a woman's career.

It is completely insane, but I'm curious about why it's come to your attention just now? Its a story from 2001. No less true for that, I'm just wondering if there was a development in the case or something?

Ugh. But it's not so surprising that a hard-driving sort who can build a business, and who also dislikes having his dirty laundry aired, would try to undermine someone who is working hard to get out a scandal-ridden book on him.
