In honor of Independence Day and historical wonkery, today I read Frederick Douglas' "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July"". Interesting read from the 1850's.

He's the best.

Are you an Into The Woods fan? If so, how do you feel about them cutting Any Moment in The Woods?

I'm a little heartbroken, but with the exception of Mrs. Lovett, The Baker's Wife is my favorite Sondheim female role, so there's that. lol.

I'm not sure how well Into The Woods will translate to the screen, really. Particularly the 2nd act, which gets kind of meta in a way that I think works better on the stage than film, which is more immersive.

"For it is not light that is needed, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake."

And we did get it, oh, yes.
