hey, it's a whole new year

i had a good new year's eve. claudia and i got a late start because we were playing "settlers of catan" online (http://catan.cs.nwu.edu/) and then we went to a party of some friends in cambridge till shortly after midnight. then i telephoned a party on the west coast and gave them greetings from the futuristic year 2002 ("we have hovercars!"). then claudia and i went out to another party thrown by some friends out in littleton.

we spent the night there, ended up staying there till the late afternoon watching movies ("barbarella" and "o brother, where art thou!"), and then we went to a new year's *day* party.

i've been trying to finish up my bedroom, but i've been dreadfully derailed in this project because somehow sid meier has managed to digitize crack and put it in his "civilization III" game. i'm hoping i can burn out the addiction in one more day of solid play.

but so far, 2002 is shaping up to be a much better year than 2001 in a great many ways.
