Katie began dating Tom, 43, last year. She was well-known for her Catholic beliefs but quickly fell pregnant and is yet to wed.

I will be doing so shortly after M. Cruise himself does the same.

That is just sick, sick, sick.

What if there is an emergency and the medical staff need to communicate? What are they going to do? Use sign language? Go into the hall for a consult? Not tell Katie what is going on so she can make a decision as to what she wants to do? Oh yes. I forgot. We women are not allowed to make our own decisions.

And to not speak to the baby for 7 days? That is truly evil.

Remember, if you don't bond with your baby, it's that much easier for the $cientologists to get their hooks into it!

According to Wikipedia:
Travolta also played a lead role in the panned Battlefield Earth (2000) Travolta, who is a Scientologist (converted 1975) and endorses the teachings of the late L. Ron Hubbard, had hoped that the film would be well-received and be the first in a series of Hubbard film adaptations.

huh. but his wife who is also a 'Tology-gal never had press about her two kids

Also it seems there son sufffers from Kawasaki disease: a poorly-understood non-contagious illness that affects the mucous membranes, lymph nodes, blood vessel walls, and the heart. Treatment is Intravenous gamma globulin is the standard treatment for Kawasaki disease and is administered in high doses. Marked improvement is usually noted within 24 hours of treatment with IV gamma globulin.

Wonder how this fits with their religious beliefs....

Travolta hasn't been nearly so publicly obnoxious about his beliefs as Cruise has, though.

Travolta's wife got held to the same thing. I remember reading press about it years ago.

Here's my favorite excerpt:

Followers believe it is traumatic for babies to hear their mother scream or groan when giving birth. They think it can cause “psychic” damage, which takes years of therapy to overcome.

That'd be pretty tough, considering they also disdain therapy.

South Park told me they call it "auditing".

nah. that's just the part where they see if you have access to any mroe money.

Actually, I've been reading up (partially due to the south park thingo) and they do call it auditing. Auditing is a process where they investigate you for issues. They attach you to a machine that is similar to a lie detector and ask you a huge series of questions. This is supposed to determine what you need. What you need is almost always an expensive course or more isolation from people who care about you or both.

SO Tommy is in the running as the second weirdest dad on the planet. (mikey still wins)

I have the perfect thing. Let's infect tom with a kidney stone and have him pass it without a sound. I notice John Travolta never had any of this weird press.

John Travolta got schooled after he made Battlefield Earth. Learned him to shut up, it did!

**AAAAAAGGGGGHHH!**

Ahem. Having done the deed with no drugs, I cannot fathom the concept of doing it silently. For me birth IS about trauma and pain as well as life and dealing with both for all participating. I don't get it. At all. Unless the "slow, understandable motions" were to STRANGLE all the elders and Tom and see if they can die without making a sound, too.

As I said in response to the last person who posted about this on my f-list "they sure as hell better believe in epidurals, too, or they can SHOVE IT UP THEIR COLLECTIVE ASSES." And reading this article, it appears they don't.

Did ol' L. Ron even have any concept of what happens during birth?

Ok, I'm going to skim over the whole "boys making rules for girls bodies without a clue as to what they are talking about" and go straight to the lovely picture of Tom staying quiet as she grabs him in the gonads while giving birth which was suggested by one of the commenters to the article.

For a religion possibly made on a bet, it seems like he's done as fine a job of f*ckng up the world as anyone else.
