an unfamiliar-to-me neighbor cat has started hanging out on the back rear porch of my house. it seems fine -- if i come near it it gets up and scurries off. but i'm unclear why it's decided to hang on my porch. there's no food out there. but it seems happy and healthy so what the heck.

also, work is getting more interesting. or at least my management chain just got a bit bigger as my corporate overlords will soon have corporate overlords.

I have a neighbor cat who's like that. He used to be an indoor city cat (Manhattan, no less), and then his owner dumped him on her parents, who are my next door neighbors. The outdoors is new and different to him, and he quickly figured out that the area around my house offers the best combination of safe and interesting: woods, critters, gardens, a shed full of stuff, a porch, an outside staircase to climb, windows to jump in and out of...lots of stuff to explore and plenty of places to retreat from the dogs. Mind you, this cat won't come over to me, but he'll hang out near me. He's nice, but we're still establishing certain no-go zones (no, you may not sit in the gardens, at least not until the plants are all up and flourishing; no, you may not pee on the porch; etc.).
