Gay quilt fabric. no, seriously. GAY quilt fabric.

[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: on a totally different topic, did I ever show you the gayest quilt fabric in the world?
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=94841
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: oh my GOD.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: that's gayer than a pride parade float.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: that's nearly nsfw levels of gay.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: quilt fabric. BY TOM O FINLAND.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: there are a couple of others of these: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=81464 and http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=63989 -- but I think the first is the gayest.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: now i am tempted to make a GAY GAY GAY quilt.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: full of GAY.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: Gay! Gay! Gay!
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: I actually have a great, easy pattern for such a thing, and a much cleverer and harder pattern.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: SO GAY.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: ULTRAGAY.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: The first involves cutting the fabric into 10" squares -- the dudes are about 12" tall, so chances are very strong that each square will feature bits of muscley bodies but not the entire figure.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: Isolated body parts: gayer.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: oh man.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: a quilt WITH CROTCH SHOTS.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: The second, harder one involves cutting the fabric into its component repeats and stacking 8 of them together, carefully pinning so that you have 8 identical pieces of fabric. Then you cut the fabric into 45" wedges and sew them together into PINWHEELS OF GAY.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: This method is called "stack and whack," for extra gay.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: PINWHEELS OF GAY.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/1087777357012224424HobAFg
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: Imagine if each wedge had a torso or a crotch in it.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: you should totally make one and put it on your guest bed.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: AND there's your rainbow fabric: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=112427
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: oh god!
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: SEE??!
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: SO GAY.

Alas, we decided there really wasn't a way to do an equivalently LESBORIFFIC DYKETASTIC gay chick quilt:

[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: I'm trying to figure out if you could do an equivalently lesbian quilt.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: There's this: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=76780
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: something covered with mediocre artwork of kd, martina, phranc, etc.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: that's a little too studio 54 and not enough Lesbian Nation overalls
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: or this: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=82999
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: see, there you go.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: i'm going to have to post a big chunk of this conversation to lj. you realize that, right?
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: I do.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: Or this: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=109414
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: Or this!! http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=87447&
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: Bad artwork: check
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: oh god.
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: you need to match it up with some androgynous looking 50's guys who look enough like eisenhauer-era butches to pass.
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: Sash it with this: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=110048
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: ha!
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: Back it with this: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=108640
[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt: but sadly the gay one is funnier
[livejournal.com profile] rmd: yeah.

Ah, yes, I was waiting for "Cowboy Hunks" to show up. Eddie's Quilting Bee had that in their front window (in Mountain View CA, not exactly the gay epicenter of the South Bay) for ages. :-)

I think this:

can give the fireboys a run for their gay dollars.

Strangely the material is primarily bought by straight women who do quilting and stuff. WEIRD

Yes, the first example is indeed the gayest one.

I prefer the fabric with the females in shorts. You know, because Mary Ann is so hot. :)

And that is a hysterical conversation!

What are you talking about, a backing for that quilt? Nooo! That quilt deserves to be made reversible, lesbians on one side, gay folks on the other. Please save some of the borders/sashing for us bi folks! ;-)

[livejournal.com profile] gilana gave me a carry-all tote made out out of the Babes in the Woods (http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=87447&) fabric. I totally love it. :)
