got a kindle. yay! ([livejournal.com profile] clauclauclaudia and i have hers & hers kindles. mine's white, hers is black, so as to avoid the "hey, is this mine or yours?)

so, I have a question for kindle-owners! what do you like as far as kindle cases?

What makes it satisfactory? Rigid case? Thick? Thin? With or without light?

I'm not clear how fragile the kindle is and if I would do better with something more rigid or if I should just be worrying about minor bumps and scratches. For the short term, I gave [livejournal.com profile] clauclauclaudia a little leather folio thing that fits a kindle-sized notepad for now as a temporary case, and am going to dig up a second similar leather folder I've got hanging around somewhere in the back of the car for myself.

The kindle doesn't seem to be very fragile, but the plastic is a bit soft; mine has scratched cosmetically in a couple of places. The case is thin, stiff but not rigid, without a light. I find that the same light that's good for reading a book is generally fine for the kindle, with the exception that the screen can reflect glare more often than paperback pages (but probably less than a glossy magazine would). I put the kindle in the case upside down, because otherwise the corner-straps that hold it in obscure a key I found important - that's definitely something that may differentiate a satisfactory case from a good one. I made sure to get a case that had a pocket for sticking paper in, but I've never used it so maybe that shouldn't have been a priority.
